The STE. 16 is the next collaboration made between Studio Electronics and the mastermind of Eowave, Marc Sirguy. This modulation monster, with sixteen different waveshapes, can be used to modulate filters, VCOs, amplitudes and timbres of basically any audio source. It has a Hi/Lo range switch that can push the STE. 16 into audio rate, as well as about three minute long cycles in its lowest range.
One unique feature of the STE. 16 is the One Shot mode, which basically turns the dual LFO into a Dual envelope (without sustain). The One Shot mode triggers one period of the wave length, which is great for percussive and short impulse envelopes. The length of the envelope would depend on the "speed" of the LFO: the slower the LFO, the longer the Envelope.
A Modulation bus allows for tweaking of cross modulation between the two LFOs. It has a toggle switch for Frequency Modulation, Mix Amount, and Amplitude Modulation. When in FM mode, LFO 2 modulates the frequency of LFO 1, with the Mix control deciding the amount of modulation. The same goes for AM, but LFO 2 modulates the Volume of LFO 1. In Mix mode, it is a blend control between LFO 1 and LFO 2. The MX ouput is the modulated output.
There are CV inputs for the frequency control of both oscillators, as well as a reset input, which in LFO mode acts has a Hard Sync input and in One Shot mode acts as the Trigger input. There are individual outputs for each LFO, as well as the MX output for their mix.
- Speed Control - decides frequency of the LFOs
- One Shot mode plays a single LFO waveform, triggered by reset input.
- Hi/Lo range switch, 6kHz at the top range, and a 3 minute oscillation at its lowest range.
- 16 different waveforms for both LFOs
- FM and AM modulation from LFO 2 on LFO 1
- MX output has the mixed signals of LFO 1 and 2
- CV inputs for frequency control
- Reset input
