Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5042-H Tape Emulator

Winner of the 2006 TEC award for best signal processing hardware, the Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5042 is anything but another tape emulator. The module makes use of authentic tape drive circuitry to deliver an uncanny simulation of tape sound. Additionally, users can choose not to engage the tape circuit in order to use the 5042 as a dedicated line amplifier with a gain range of +/- 12dB. 

When combined, the tape and line driver sections are the perfect way to clean up a harsh digital signal. The unit accomplishes this feat though the inclusion of an authentic tape drive circuit routed into a magnetic head coupled to an equalized replay amplifier. 

In terms of connectivity, the 5042 features dual line-driving amplifiers with transformer-balanced inputs and outputs. It should be noted that the amplifiers are of exemplary sonic quality and are capable of enhancing nearly any audio signal, especially digital ones. 

This is the HORIZONTAL version of the Portico 5042.
