For those seeking a HD audio-visual capture and monitoring device, the MOTU HD Express may be just what the doctor ordered. The interface connects to a computer via ExpressCard slot, which then connects to the interface via HDMI cable.
In addition to a handy HDMI input and output, which are used to capture and monitor video and eight embedded audio channels, the HD Express supports two industry standard programs: Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere CS5. The HDMI connectivity is especially convenient here, as users can directly connect their HDMI-equipped camera to capture video straight from the sensor before any processing or recording occurs. With the HDMI out, users can effectively monitor via any HDMI-equipped flat-panel monitor or projector.
Tired of compression delays? Welcome to the club. Thankfully, the HD Express aims to expedite this process by importing any video directly as the supported codec. Simply select the desired codec for any video captured with the interface and the HD Express will configure it for monitoring support. This effectively eliminates the time it takes to wrap files, mix them down, then reconvert them later.
In addition to HDMI, the HD Express also features a S/PDIF input and output, stereo RCA input, eight RCA outputs, and supports all standard sample rates extending from 44.1 to 96kHz.
