HC-TT Manual Tape Machine HC-TT Manual Tape Machine HC-TT Manual Tape Machine

The HC-TT made by Landscape is a stereo cassette tape machine that uses human power to move the tape instead of a motor. There is a large knob that is connected to the spindle in the cassette that allows you to advance the tape manually, and if you put in a tape that is a loop you can advance the tape forwards and backwards and get an effect similar to scratching a record. The tape head and amplifier circuit in the HC-TT are NOS parts.

Advancing the tape manually has a great hands on feel and produces a ton of wow and flutter sounds, you can use tapes recorded at lower speeds to get less unsteadyness if you want. There are serparate left and right channel outputs from the tape head with their own level controls, the outputs are on 1/4" and 1/8" mono jacks so it is easy to use with any gear without adapters. There is also a springloaded mute switch for getting gated killswitch sounds.

Info on how to make a tape loop for the HC-TT is available here.
