The Korg electribe has evolved, putting the current Korg electribe in the same honorable role as its predecessors: a leader in electronic music production. Whether users aim to stay competitive or become competitive, the Korg electribe is a powerful tool for improving the sonic quality and the dynamic depth of live shows and productions. The other main improvement in the current electribe in relation to the many previous versions that have been rolled out since its introduction in 2003 is the ease of use. It is quick for the beginner to get used to and intuitive for the veteran electribe user to master all the new features. The electribe flawlessly delivers on two tasks that both demand speed: live performance and studio based music production.

The electribe is reborn featuring KORG's newest technology distilled from other popular classic Korg products like as the KingKORG, kaoss pad, kaossilator, and taktile. The 200 preset patterns range from House and Techno to cutting-edge dance music genres such as Trap and EDM. One more major evolution of the new electribe is its support for polyphonic playback, which is integral for musical styles that involve intricate chord progressions like House music.

Using the 16 pads located on the front panel of the unit, users can produce patterns intuitively while actually hearing and visualizing the sounds. The pads can be used as a keyboard to record phrases in realtime, or to step record by entering the pitch and rhythmic value note by note. The patterns that users create can be used in alternate forms while performing by taking advantage of the "step jump" function brought over from the volca series, or by differing the "last step" to alter the length of each part.

With the electribe, KORG designed a synth engine which provides the maximum in sound-creating freedom and the quickest sound production. The 409 oscillator waveforms include analog modeling and PCM. The robust analog modeling synth engine provides a wide variety ranging from simple basic waveforms to complicated combinations like dual, unison, sync, ring modulation, and cross modulation. The PCM sound engine produces mostly rhythm sounds, but also covers multisamples for keyboard sounds. (collaborations with Sample Magic, Prime Loops, Loopmasters, Prime Loops are included)

The new electribe features effects like compression and overdrive for each part, providing users with unbridled control over the nuances of individual sounds that vary subtly between genres. The groove function can be set for each part, allowing users apply a groove to their phrase simply by choosing a template.

New features for live performance: Master effects, Pattern sets, Sync in/out.

The master effects are able to be controlled from the touch pad as on the kaoss pad, and they feature not just spatial-type effects that shape the overall acoustics but also effects that apply aggressive musical transformations like the "Vinyl Break" effect borrowed from the Kaoss pad family, and the newly developed "Odd Stepper" and "Seq Reverse" which change the playback order of the sequencer. These are also powerfully effective for live performances. Insert effects can be assigned for individual parts, opening up possibilities for even more complex sound-design.

A new workflow with Ableton Live

Morph inspiration into a full on creative production. KORG has collaborated with Ableton to offer a brand new music production workflow that brings together the best of the hardware and software worlds. The electribe Sampler has the ability to internally save and export patterns to Ableton Live format. Individual parts and patterns are saved as scenes and clips into an Ableton Live Set. Use Live’s impressive Session and Arrangement workflows to edit and and sharpen ideas, perform or record new parts, arrange and expand ideas, and mix a song. The Korg electribe Sampler includes Live Lite.
