For those that have not heard about harmonic tremolo, pull up a seat. The Night Wire, from EarthQuaker Devices is a harmonic tremolo pedal that challenges the very limits of what a harmonic tremolo should do.
Traditionally, most harmonic tremolo pedals split an incoming signal into high- and low-pass filters before modulating each with a single LFO that has been split 180 degrees. The Night Wire incorporates this initial concept but adds three modes to its filter frequency: Manual, LFO, and Attack. In Manual mode, the center point is set to a fixed position via the Frequency control. LFO mode allows one to sweep through the filters, with the Frequency control governing the overall speed. In Attack mode, the filters sweep in tandem with the pick attack, with the Frequency control behaving like a range control.
Sonically, the pedal’s tremolo sound ranges from subtle to pulsating, depending on the position of the Depth control.
