The Boss SL-20 is a compact audio slicer pedal that can be incorporated into a variety of divergent applications. The unit slices whatever signal is present at its input into a series of rhythmic patterns, including percussive grooves and more melodic-style patterns. What’s more, any affected audio can be manipulated directly from the pedal, enabling the application of effects and further slicing.
In terms of synchronization, the SL-20 can be slaved to another device via MIDI connection, manually tempo synced via corresponding knob, or synced using the tap tempo. Additionally, the unit features overdub capabilities, meaning users can record new material over perviously recorded loops. All this plus the pedal’s relatively compact size make it a force to be reckoned with.
